About Four Objects

Founded by best friends Ku and Mae, Four Objects is a luxury, New York-based slow fashion brand committed to a circular business model. Their sustainable capsule collection helps collectors craft a long-lasting wardrobe where beautiful design is not sacrificed for form or function.

Sustainability and Ethos

At the heart of Four Objects lies a deep commitment to sustainability. The brand operates as a Certified B Corporation, ensuring that their business practices meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Four Objects meticulously selects premium natural and biodegradable fibers, and deadstock fabric to align with their sustainability efforts, without compromising on quality. Avoiding microplastics, garments feature luxurious fabrics like organic cotton, linen, and silk blends, chosen not only for their tactile appeal but also for their minimal environmental footprint.

The brands circular initiative, 4Worn, gives pre-owned pieces a second life through resale and reuse, while maintaining the brand's commitment to quality. Designed to minimize waste and promote conscious consumption, these pre-loved items are gently-used returns, photoshoot samples, and prototypes that have been cleaned and repaired, extending the life of the garment and offering Four Objects most popular styles at a more attainable price point.

Fostering shared prosperity and social responsibility, 4% of proceeds from every sale are donated to organizations supporting the communities involved in their production, such as including Chinese Planning Council (CPC) and FabScrap.

The Collector Subscription: Curated for You

Centered around the idea that fewer, better-made garments can lead to a more meaningful and sustainable wardrobe, their design process emphasizes longevity. Four Objects has a vision for an intentional wardrobe slowly collected over time, and encourages customers to invest in pieces that can be cherished and worn for years.

To further support that message, and for those seeking a more personalized and sustainable approach to fashion, Four Objects offers the Collector Subscription, which embodies their commitment to thoughtful consumption, allowing customers to build a curated, long-lasting wardrobe without the overwhelm of constant shopping.

This unique subscription program delivers four carefully selected pieces each year, tailored to your preferences and lifestyle. Collectors receive exclusive access to new releases and limited-edition items, all while enjoying the convenience of free shipping, exchanges, and extended return windows for up to six months — even on worn items.

A review of the Work Shirt in Herringbone

A modern take on a classic workwear aesthetic, Four Object’s Herringbone Work Shirt is one of their most beloved styles and crafted from a mid-weight linen blend.

Combining natural texture, durability, and visual interest, the herringbone weave is a thicker fabric than the XL plaid, which we’ll be reviewing below. Ideal for warmer climates or layering during transitional seasons, the breathable 45% organic cotton and 55% linen blend paired with the structured yet relaxed silhouette, ensures comfort in Charleston’s sub-tropical climate, or as layering piece during transitional seasons. Slightly rough at first, as is typical of linen, this shirt softens with wear.

While some — like myself — prefer the natural, lived-in look of linen on most days, others might opt to iron to achieve a crisper appearance. This shirt can do both, making it highly versatile whether you’re wearing it casually untucked and unbuttoned for a breezy beach day, or tucked in for a polished and elegant event. It’s one of those pieces you want to keep and wear forever!

A crisp, intimate shot of the work shirt’s dual front pockets, emphasizing practical details and clean design. The textured herringbone weave stands out in the soft beach light, making a case for utility-driven slow fashion pieces built to last.

Four Objects Herringbone Workshirt notable details:

  • Fabric: Breathable 45% organic cotton, 55% linen blend

  • Weight: Mid-weight and durable four-season layering piece

  • Fit: Structured yet relaxed fit for comfort and ease of movement

  • Design: Classic button-down shirt with a subtle herringbone pattern and double pockets

At Four Objects, it’s strongly believed that the biggest impact we can make is to use what we have and keep what we buy for a long time, which is why they design with function and longevity in mind. That ethos is tangible in the Herringbone Work Shirt — the substantial, thicker weave holds its shape, the stitching is clean and neat. Just as functional as it is beautiful, made even more so by the two chest pockets. While wearing it you can feel that it’s one of those workhorse essentials in your closet.

Seated directly on the sand atop a complementary Four Objects scarf, embodying slow living by the sea. The Herringbone Work Shirt softly folds around her form—comfortable, functional, and aligned with the gentle rhythm of conscious fashion.

I took my usual size in this style and it was the perfect, tailored fit. That’s because Four Objects extensively fit-tests each design to better understand the size range. When cut well, most people can wear multiple sizes — bigger or smaller — and still look and feel great.

A review of the Work Shirt in XL Plaid with Scarf

With the Vestiges Collection, Four Objects takes fabric no longer in production, that will never be made again, and upcycles it into a series of limited edition pieces. The use of deadstock fabric doesn’t just mean availability is limited (so get these best-selling silhouettes in rare patterns before they’re gone), it’s also sustainable production approach — reducing waste by repurposing existing high-end textiles.

The XL Plaid Work Shirt is part of this collection.

Made from Japanese deadstock chambray fabric, the material of the Work Shirt in XL Plaid stands out for it’s extra-soft texture immediately out of the package — no break-in time required. Compared to the Herringbone, which blends linen for breathability and structure, this shirt is noticeably lighter in weight, making it especially suitable in hot and humid climates. But even being thinner, the quality is still unmistakeable. Not only does the inside of the garment look just as well-made as the exterior, but a gusset where the side seam meets the hem of the shirt adds extra strength to stress points, helping to increase longevity and prevent damage.

Consistent with Four Objects’ signature style, the XL Plaid Work Shirt features a boxy, oversized silhouette, with ample length and beautiful drape. The large-scale plaid pattern in shades of blue provides a contemporary twist on a classic design, but without being loud.

Four Objects XL Plaid Workshirt notable details:

  • Fabric: 100% cotton deadstock woven in Japan

  • Weight: Thinner and lightweight for Spring and Summer

  • Fit: Relaxed, boxy fit for comfort and ease of movement

  • Design: Classic button-down shirt with large-scale plaid in shades of blue, with a detachable scarf

A must-have addition to your Spring and Summer wardrobe, I’ve found the XL Plaid Work Shirt to feel comfortable even during muggy 90° days. I took one size up from my normal, for a casual and effortless look that falls slightly lower on my hips. To beat the heat, I rolled the cuffs and unbuttoned the shirt halfway, which allows the breeze to blow open the shirttails and let the style of high-waisted bottoms show through. If that’s not your thing, the extra length of this style also lets you knot the front with ease. Once it cools off, it can be worn open as a light outer layer, buttoned up for a more polished look, or paired over a turtleneck for a touch of elegance.

The Work Shirt in XL Plaid offers a bold, statement-making design, further enhanced by the versatility of a matching scarf. This adds an element of customization, and allows wearers to adapt the look to different occasions.

The 36” square scarf can be worn in various ways to suit personal preference. Some of my favorite styles have worn as a hair scarf, rolled around the shirt collar as a tie or around the neck, or paired with the white Herringbone Work Shirt for a pop of color. I also plan on wearing it tied in a bow as a headband, woven into a braid, and tied onto a bag handle.
